About Us
Cascade Locks is where the Bridge of the Gods spans the Heart of the Gorge.
Please be our guest, and discover our beautiful and historic town and our unparalleled surroundings.
Formed by a force of nature
Cascade Locks is in the Heart of the Columbia River Gorge at exit 44 on I84, just a short scenic drive from Portland, Oregon. Upon entering the 80 mile stretch of the Gorge, you will begin to see waterfalls. There are approximately 90 waterfalls on the Oregon side of the river alone, some visible from the road, others that must be hiked in to. This waterfall corridor is the largest concentration of waterfalls anywhere in North America! Situated along the mighty Columbia River, we are at near sea level, nestled beneath the towering vertical cliffs of basalt and old-growth forest. The river is the border between Oregon and Washington States. Our tight-knit community, full of friendly faces, has a population of about 1,200. Our city and the incredible nature surrounding us offers year-round recreation. Visit our website www.cascade-locks.or.us
Cascade Locks is the closet town to Multnomah Falls. At 620ft, with two drops, it is the tallest falls along the waterfall corridor. Multnomah Falls is the most visited site in Oregon. It can be accessed by I84 or the Historic Columbia River Highway Scenic Byway. This spectacular, graceful, marvel of engineering is the first planned scenic highway in the country. It offers a closer view to many waterfalls. Some of the byway and trails can only accessible by bike or on foot.
